Diethyl Toluamide(DEET) is a widely used insecticide. Spray it on the skin or clothes to avoid insect and mosquito bites. It's a colorless to light yellow oily liquid. It's insoluble in water but can be mixed with ethanol, ether, benzene, propylene glycol, and cottonseed oil. By volatilizing to form a protective odor layer, N,N-Diethyl-m-toluamide interferes with the olfactory senses of mosquitoes and other pests, effectively repelling harmful insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. The duration of DEET's mosquito repellent effect is concentration-dependent, with a 10% concentration providing approximately 2 hours of protection and a 24% concentration extending it to 5 hours.
