Sulfamic acid is soluble in water and liquid ammonia. At room temperature, as long as it is kept dry and does not contact with water, solid sulfamic acid is not hygroscopic and is relatively stable.

The aqueous solution of sulfamic acid has the same strong acidity as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, so it is also called solid sulfuric acid. It has the characteristics of non-volatile, odorless and less toxicity to human body. The dust or solution is irritating to the eyes and skin and can cause burns, the maximum allowable concentration is 10 mg/m³. Sulfamic acid can be used to synthesize herbicides, fire retardants, sweeteners, preservatives, metal cleaning agents, etc. It is a common chemical raw material.

1. Cleaning agent
The sulfamic acid cleaning agent has a wide application range and can be used for cleaning boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, jackets and chemical pipelines.
2. Textile Industry
Sulfamic acid can be used as eliminator of excess nitrite in diazotization reaction in dye industry, fixative of textile dyeing, forming fireproof layer on textile, and also can be used to make yarn cleaner and other auxiliaries in textile industry.
3. Paper industry
Aminosulfonic acid can be used as a bleaching auxiliary to reduce or eliminate the catalysis of heavy metal ions in the bleaching liquor, so that the quality of the bleaching liquor is guaranteed, the oxidative degradation of metal ions on fibers can be reduced, the peeling reaction of fibers can be prevented, and the strength and brightness of pulp can be improved.
4. The oil industry
Sulfamic acid can be used to remove reservoir plugging and improve reservoir permeability.
5. Agriculture
Sulfamic acid and ammonium sulfamate were originally developed as herbicides. They are claimed to have an exposure effect when applied directly to plants, and to have a gametocidal effect when applied to soil.
6. Electroplating solution
Sulfamic acid is commonly used in gold or alloy plating. Alkali metal sulfamate, ammonium sulfamate or sulfamic acid can be used as conductive and buffering compounds in new aqueous gold plating solutions.
7. Chemical synthesis analysis
In organic synthesis, sulfamic acid is a solid acid which is cheap and easy to obtain and has good stability. It has a good catalytic effect on the esterification reaction with acid and does not corrode the equipment. At the same time, it is also a raw material for making synthetic sweeteners, herbicides, flame retardants, preservatives and so on.
