Application
Isophorone is an important high-boiling-point ketone solvent and chemical intermediate with excellent solubility, stability, and compatibility. Its applications cover a wide range of fields, including coatings and inks, adhesives, pharmaceuticals and pesticides, and synthetic materials.
Isophorone's primary use is as a solvent. Its strong dissolving power makes it a core solvent in paints and coatings (such as automotive paints, furniture paints, and anti-corrosion paints) and inks (such as gravure printing inks and screen printing inks). It can dissolve various film-forming substances such as acrylic resins, epoxy resins, polyurethane resins, and alkyd resins. Its high boiling point (approximately 215°C) and slow evaporation rate effectively prevent pinholes and sagging defects in coatings/inks during film formation, improving film gloss and adhesion.
